Website cost and buying a website

The first question is almost always the price, and the honest answer is that it depends on what the site needs to do. A website costs something to build and something every year after that, and the sum of the two is what is worth comparing.

I have collected my articles on prices, on buying a website and on how it should be structured. Read the pricing articles first if you need to set a budget. If you are choosing between an agency, a freelancer and a developer, those articles are in the middle.

If you already have a site that is not doing its job, start with the section on structure and redesign. My own prices are on the pricing page, so you can compare them with what you read here.
