About Mads Holst Jensen

Hi! I'm Mads, and I'm an external CTO and technical partner for Danish companies. I build, run and secure the entire technical stack — web, server, email, AI and performance — under a single agreement. I've been building websites since 2006, and I live in Odense.

What separates me from a classic freelancer is that I don't only build new sites. I also take responsibility for what happens afterwards: operations, backups, security, email and the ongoing improvements. And I use AI actively in the work, so more tasks get done for the same price.

My journey started when I built my first website as a child. Since then I have helped many companies get a professional presence online.

I live in Odense with my wife Tea and our three children. We love to travel and have taken the kids on adventures in Scandinavia and Southeast Asia. When I'm not sitting in front of a computer, I'm still active in the scout movement and I organise events.

About the name

I started out as Mahope – a name that grew out of my then name Mads Holst Pedersen. After I married Tea, I changed my surname to Jensen, and today I use mahoje as my personal name and domain (mahoje.dk).

Mahope is still my company brand, while mahoje refers to me as a person. Same quality – same person – new surname.

My values

What drives me in my work

  • Passion

I love what I do. Web development isn't just a job, it's a passion I've had since childhood.

  • Relationships

I believe in long-term collaborations. My best projects come from clients I've worked with for years.

  • Quality

I never compromise on quality. Every solution has to be fast, secure and easy to use — and it still has to work a year from now.

My journey

From hobbyist to technical partner

  1. 2006

    First website

I built my first website as a child. It started a lifelong passion for web development.

  2. 2015

    Freelance start

Started working professionally as a freelance WordPress developer alongside my studies.

  3. 2018

    Mahope founded

Founded Mahope as a company and went full time on WordPress development.

  4. 2020

    Growing client base

Established a broad network of satisfied clients across Denmark.

  5. Today

    Technical partner

Today I run web, operations, email, AI and security for Danish companies as an external CTO — with my own backlog, a fixed monthly price and no employment contract.

How I work in practice

This is where I differ from a freelancer: the whole technical stack comes from the same person

  • Web and development

WordPress, WooCommerce, custom sites and apps. New features, fixes and entirely new projects.

  • Server, email and operations

I set up the server and manage hosting, deployment, domains and email, so SPF, DKIM and DMARC simply work.

  • AI and automation

AI connected to your business: automated replies, content, reports and workflows that save time.

  • Security and performance

Hardening, backups with restore tests, monitoring, technical SEO and speed optimisation.

One thing people are often surprised by: it isn't one person doing all the small tasks. I use AI to write, test and document, and I spend the saved time on what requires experience — prioritisation, security and the decisions that can't be automated. That's why I can cover the entire stack in one agreement instead of five.

Beyond work

A little about me as a person

Together with my wife Tea and our three children we have travelled to Norway, Malaysia, Indonesia and many other places — often with a baby in a carrier and hiking boots on. We love the outdoors, camping and seeing the world together.

As a freelancer I can work remotely, and that has given us the freedom to take longer trips as a family. The flexibility also makes me a better developer — new experiences bring perspective and creativity.

At home in Odense I'm still active in the scout movement, and we've got a dog who makes sure I get out in nature every day.
